Coventry school bans army men hat

Just when you think you have seen it all... here is a report from Conventry School in Rhode Island about a 2nd grade student who created a project. You have to read it for yourself.

Let me know what you think. Extreme or within limits?

  1. I think that with zero tolerance we sometimes loose common sense. The toy soldiers had weapons, the toy used is all one piece. They were two inch figures. There is no way that the toy soldiers on the hat were dangerous. Now if the boy had brought in a REAL weapon that was loaded, now that would be different. That is the job of a soldier, to carry and use a weapon if necessary to protect and defend.

  2. I remember a time when little boys wanted to grow up to be soldiers. I wonder if that is still a childhood dream for some? Probably not if a child isn't even able to play with toy soldiers because of the "weapon" attached.
